This is the guitar of legend that many guitar enthusiasts have dreamt of seeing in person, let alone actually holding in their hands! This 1957 Strat is a beautifully playing guitar with the sound that helped build Rock N Roll. The neck and frets are in fantastic shape that allow easy fretting and easy string bends. The body shows obvious wear that is typical of guitars this old. The finish has been worn down to the wood in some spots, mostly the back like you'd expect, but in great shape for a '57. The finger print marks on the fretboard are a testament to how enjoyable this guitar is to play. You don't achieve that by leaving it under the bed for 50 years, ask Eric Clapton! This guitar has been in one family before coming to us. Our friend's grandfather bought the guitar new in the late '50's and kept it until his passing when it was passed on to our friends uncle who played it for many years. Recently he sold it to his nephew who works at Guitar Center who in turn sold it to us. Before they purchased the guitar, they sent over 50 photos and detailed information to the famous Guitar Center Vintage Room in Hollywood ( info on them can be found in most vintage books or magazines ). I personally worked for Guitar Center for 5 years and can tell you how this process works. The neck is separated from the body and photos of all markings in the body cavities are verified to the markings on the neck to determine they belong together and to date the year of manufacturing. Detailed photos of the hardware is sent to make sure the tuners haven't been replaced as well as the bridge. The guitar was verified to be original through Guitar Center's vintage experts who ok'd the buy and the guitar was sold to us soon after.
