Some duduks are made from other woods which lowers the sound quality of the duduk. Make sure to buy Armenian duduks made in Armenia, because only in Armenia you can find the best duduk masters and the apricot wood used for making duduks. As a duduk player I want the buyers to know that duduk making is hard and random process. Out of 10 duduks made only 3-4 are good quality and correctly tuned instruments. The others are sold as souvenirs or imitation duduks. I have bought special professional tuning tool from USA used for tuning guitars and pianos, and sent it to Armenia to one of the best duduk masters, Andranik Simonian. Andranik Simonian is making duduks for many years. He has made duduks for many famous Armenian Duduk players. He is now using this tuning tool to get the best tuned and correctly sounding duduks. Andranik Simonian is making not only duduks but aslo other Armenian tradition instruments such as ZURNA,  BLOUL, SHVI, QYAMANCHA and etc. To play duduk it is necessary to develop breathing skills.  The in-breath should be quick and deep, and the out-breath slow and equal. To produce a sound and to breath in and out while playing, it is necessary to hold the reed with lips, to swell the cheeks a little so that the inner sides of the lips should separate from the gums and teeth forming a space. Duduk has two fingerings. The first fingering is simple (without using the left small finger. The second fingering is more complicated. It is put into usage from the second form because of the presence of multiciphered scales and pieces of music that demand the work of all fingers The reeds also are very important. Reeds are made from ramish (Khamish in Armenian). The quality of reeds depends on care and professionality of the maker. I try many reeds and pick only the best sounding reeds for this auction. Some reeds are hard to play some are easy, but it is not a sign of quality. Hard playing reeds need to be soaked. Then leave it for couple of minutes to open the mouth. The player can adjust the sound of the reed through special adjusting tool hanging on the reed. First try to play just the reed and then put it on the duduk and try play without closing holes of duduk.
