Description
From one of the oldest (founded in 1823) piano manufacturers in America, a Chickering Model A, 6'4" full grand piano serial number 118064. This piano is almost a hundred years old and was built at a time when Chickering and Steinway were equal in quality and reputation. The case is ribbon mahogany and is in excellent condition. The piano has received many compliments for its rich sound. This piano was fully restored in 1977 by Michigan Piano: ♣ Rebuilding: replaced pinblock and soundboard, recapped bridges, new strings and tuning pins ♣ Keys: Key tops are original, replaced front and balance key bushings, replaced key end felts, weigh off key sticks ♣ Damper: Damper felts replaced, damper guides rebushed, replaced felts in damper under levers, rebushed and regulated sostenuto system ♣ Action: Replaced let-off felts, replaced hammers, reconditioned knuckles, wipers repaired as needed, regulated back checks, replaced brass flanges and plates as needed, completely regulated action and dampers. Michigan Piano’s estimate of these rebuild costs if done today range between $12,000-$14,000. Local pickup only or buyer pays all shipping charges. Buyer is invited to try out piano before bidding. In response to a question about the Rebuild, parts used were not Chickering as they are not available, but the proper rebuild parts were used.
