It is a very primitive musical wind instrument, from primitive folk art from Switzerland, Austria,or the Black Forest from Germany. I can not tell you the exact village of it's origine . I sell the alphorn just like my father found it in the cottage of my grandfather who hunted in his early years.  It mesures 40 inches. It has its natural nice warm brown colour, there are signs of normal wear. It is very old. This is original, no reproduction. I never saw an alphorn in this size. I love it. It is a decorative musical wind instrument .    When I was a child, strolling through the alps, I remember the cows with the sound of their bells... the chamois,the people in the cottages on the alps who offered the people passing by bread cowbutter and meat and a a very small glass of selfmade schnapps, or gin. People walking in their leather throusers, called lederhosen. Wearing hats with hat pins and feathers. The sound of the yodel of the people and the sound of the alphorn.  I was just a child, I tried to get a sound out of the alphorn, but I failed. Now I tried again, but still I can not make that famous sound with the alphorn. There were very large alphorns, horns in different sizes. The alphorn made a very impressive sound through the gorges. There were the flowers on the alps ,the Edelweiss and blue corn flower, the houses with stones on the roof against the snowfall and the beautiful colour of the flowers under each window.
