Description
As you can see, this is a mid-1970s vintage ARP 2600 analog synthesizer with a model 3620 keyboard. I paid around $5000 for it a couple of years ago on eBay. It did not have the case-type covers for the synth or its keyboard. Two sliders' knobs were broken off (you can see them in the close-up picture), but the sliders can still be worked with your finger tips and they work just fine. The internal reverb unit is disconnected but it still works too; a tech guy would have to open the synth to re-connect its detachment from one solder point. I've never used the onboard reverb unit, so I haven't bothered to get it fixed. It does no more to the output signal than an external reverb unit does anyway. Finally, someone sometime has put dark brown coco bolo hardwood paneling on it, a rather nice touch in my opinion, although I realize that purists might be mortified. Coco bolo is an exotic African hardwood, very dense and hard, very beautiful, very expensive. So that's my ARP 2600's story, warts and all. It functions perfectly and really kicks ass, what with 3 VCOs tunable across several octaves, and producing two CVs at a time. The capabilities are astonishing. Let me say this: I know that I paid more than I should have for this synth. For $5000, I should have waited for one that had its two case covers, and not two broken slider-knobs (I took a close-up photo of that so you can see it clearly). I was too impatient to buy an ARP 2600, and I had been waiting for a couple of months already, and they rarely come on eBay, so when this one came up, I jumped on it. I know I paid too much for it. But let me add one more thing. When I got it, I took it to a synth tech guy with 35 years of experience on all the old analog synths and asked him to do general maintenance and a check up on it. He said it had obviously been taken good care of, and he "reconditioned the keyboard" so that it fingers like new. I don't expect you to pay me what I paid for it! I'm determined to give someone a good deal, as long as I can recoup some respectable amount of the money I have in it. It's just a hobby to me, and I'd like to give a good deal to a gifted artist who will really use it as the ultimate professional tool that it is. Includes a photocopied manual. It works as I have claimed, but because of the squirrely nature of antique electronics, and the unavoidable perils of long distance shipping, I must sell it "as is". Inside the United States only. NO RESERVE! It will be professionally packed by the UPS Store. Because of its size, it may have to be shipped as two packages. I'll pay for the packing and shipping and insurance!
