FranksMusic - Stringed Instruments beautiful solid-wood*~ mandola ~*made in Saxony Here we have a wonderful CGDA mandola for sale.The mandola was made in Vogtland, probably in Markneukirchen or Klingenthal, Saxony, between 1980 and 1990, i guess.Built from all solid woods. Top is from spruce with multiple purfling. Inlaid scratch-plate (pick-guard) made from mahagony. The sides are from maple. The back is a costly marquetry work from flamed maple with rosewood and other wood inlays. Everything is inlaid, nothing just painted on. The marquetry triangles at the back are surrounded by multiple inlaid stripes of colored woods, hard to see from the photos - simply amazing. There is no brand-name or sign of make on the instrument because it was built in political times of former GDR, just a branded ser.number on the sides of the headstock 1188.The neck is perfectly straight, no fretwear, tuners work well.The instrument is in excellent+ condition, no damages with not even scratches on.The strings are brand new The sounding is strong, "woody", you will love it!Its half-round back adds some beauty to the tone (compared to an all flat one).dimensions: 72cm length - 42cm scale - 3.7cm nut - 29cm b.width - 10cm b.height - 36cm b.lengthThis rare and beautiful mandola will make a lovely chrismas gift for any musician, don't miss!
